this is a polaroid 54 print i made today in golden gate park.
it reminded me just how fleeting moments can be. it had been overcast most of the morning, which i love, and everything was perfect for this shot. i decided to shoot polaroid first. i’d shot a few before and those ended up overexposed. i was determined to come up with a good polaroid for the day. i lined everything up and exposed this.
as soon as i saw how great the print came out, the sun came out from behind the clouds and introduced a harsh light right on these fronds. damn! i waited several minutes, hoping we would return to clouds.
it never happened, and the entire sky ended up clearing up. that moment was long gone, and was there just long enough for me to shoot this polaroid.

almond croissant
this is a picture of an amazing almond croissant i had recently. i had it and a latte at four barrel coffee in my neighborhood. what a great combination.
the image is part of a roll i shot on a photowalk through the neighborhood. the mission is very colorful and very active. it’s growing on me pretty fast. and easy access to amazing coffee is a great bonus.
90/2.8, pentax 6×7. shot on fuji portra 400vc pushed one stop.

i was driving down to san jose yesterday after work when i noticed my throat was real sore. i looked in the rear view mirror and, sure enough, my throat was super red. i had gotten a little worse through the night until it was time for bed, when i decided i should just stay home.
i haven’t been sick in a long while. i did take the opportunity to walk to the market to get some granola and yogurt, to recreate one of my favorite morning meals. walking back with my ingredients, i reminisced about my mom making fresh yogurt at home. i’d mix in some wheat germ and honey.
ryan and i have both been very busy lately with the new condo. figuring out where things go, making small repairs and touch-ups. replacing and adjusting bulbs and fixtures. trying to find some time here and there to relax. i guess i’ll get some relaxation in today.
i took this shot with our canon powershot g3. light is 50 joules through a large softbox, camera left. i like having a living room that’s plenty large enough to do stuff like this.
